It all starts with Hippolyte Barjus, a post WWII businessman, enjoying economic growth, who tries to be a good father, the way he thought France expected from him, in 1957.
What’s up with Hippolyte ? A few little things : an inverted son, a second son kept by a rich japonese woman, and a wive who might quit him for another man who understands her better. It’s bold for a movie based on a 1948 play.

SOAP season 2 : Jodie the (almost) first sitcom gay dad
Beware spoilers.
Jodie Campbell is back, the first recurrent gay character, pioneer of sitcoms, for the second season of SOAP, in 1978, and he was very close to get married.
Thanks to the genius of Susan Harris, creator and writer of the show, and helped by Stu Silver, season 2 is as great as the first, with still actor Billy Crystal as Jodie, here is a little reminder of season 1.
Crazyness goes further in the second season : non-adulteries, amnesia, a devilish pregnancy… Jodie doesn’t get away with it, the big issues are failed mariage and fatherhood.

Yes Albin is back, 5 years after after a sold out success in theater for La Cage aux Folles, his Zaza Napoli is about to become the most famous drag queen in the world, and this, is thanks to the movie.
The original 1973 story remains the same, therefore I will focus here on the major differences between the play, and the movie.

SOAP saison 2 : Jodie le (presque) premier papa gay des sitcoms
Attention divulgâchage.
C’est le retour de Jodie Campbell, le personnage gay récurrent, pionnier des sitcoms, pour la deuxième saison de SOAP, en 1978, et il a été à deux doigts de se marier.
Grâce à l’écriture toujours aussi géniale de Susan Harris sa créatrice, et aidée par Stu Silver, la saison 2 de SOAP est aussi efficace que la saison 1, avec encore Billy Crystal dans la rôle de Jodie.
Le délire va plus loin en saison 2 : Adultères, amnésie, grossesse du diable… et Jodie n’y échappe pas, pour lui le gros sujet de la saison sera un mariage et une paternité ratés.

Goldorak

Dans l’ombre du Grand Stratéguerre, un visage se détache dans la saga de Goldorak, le robot de l’espace... Ou plutôt, les deux visages de ce commandant de Vega.
Minos et Minas apparaissent sur les écrans français en 1978 dans Récré A2, dans Goldorak, une production japonaise de Toei Animation et un manga de Gō Nagai.
Ce double personnage a une double narration, à la fois monstre cruel, et pantin tragique. Il raconte à la fois les guerres intestines du pouvoir, et sa propre dualité intérieure.

Et oui, revoici Albin, après son succès théâtral de 5 ans dans La Cage aux Folles, sa Zaza Napoli va devenir la plus célèbre drag queen du monde, et ça, c’est grâce au film.
L’histoire originale de 1973 n’est pas modifiée, je ne te la refais pas, ce qui m’intéresse ici c’est de voir ce que le film a pu apporter de différent par rapport à la pièce. Jean Poiret reste aux commandes du scenario, et Francis Veber vient l’épauler, car Poiret veut recréer une histoire vraiment cinématographie. L’acteur doit laisser sa place à Ugo Tognazzi un acteur italien pour qui George devient Renato Baldi. (…)

7 ans avant que la Cage aux Folles dévoile les talents d’Albin Mougeotte au théâtre, Michel Serrault a eu l’opportunité de créer un personnage de folle plus délirante que son personnage d’antiquaire de 1959.
Philippe de Broca livre ce film comme un conte philosophico-politique contre la folie meurtrière de la guerre. Face à face, deux humanités s’opposent : l’uniformité prédatrice de la société guerrière (pour ne pas dire capitaliste), et l’utopie joyeuse et fraternelle d’une société du vivre ensemble.
